Moissanite is a really interesting gem that was first discovered on a meteorite and was thought to be Diamond. It has a higher refractive index than Diamond (making it sparklier) and is 9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Diamonds are 10 and Sapphires are 9, so it’s very hard and very dazzling, perfect for an engagement ring! Natural Moissanites are a very rare mineral, and so most gems used in jewellery today are lab-created with the exact same chemical composition and structure as one naturally occurring on Earth (or in space!)
